В музыкальной жизни британских островов тоже есть свои рекорды. Один из них – рекорд популярности, установленный пластинкой ливерпульской четверки „Битлз“. Запись песни „Она тебя любит“ была распространена в Англии тиражом в полтора миллиона экземпляров. Сегодня эту цифру превысили Пол Маккартни и его ансамбль „Уингс“ („Крылья“), чья новая пластинка с песней “Мыс Кинтайр“  в какие-то считанные дни перешагнула двухмиллионный рубеж. „Крылья“ – это „Битлз“ 70-х годов, - писал в начале этого года британский музыкальный еженедельник „Мелоди мейкер“, - Теперь уже ясно всем,  что большая часть лучших работ „Битлз“ – результат творчества Пола Маккартни“. Маккартни организовал „Крылья“ в августе 1971 года, всего через год  с момента „официального“ распада „Битлз“. Мастерство и популярность нового состава росли от записи к записи  и с выходом в 1974 году третьего альбома „Крыльев“ – „Группа в движении“ – ансамбль стал ведущим музыкальным коллективом Великобритании. Широкой известностью пользовались и последующие работы „Крыльев“ – долгоиграющие пластинки „Венера и Марс“, „Со скоростью звука“, „город лондон“ …

В настоящее время в ансамбле „Крылья“ кроме Пола Маккартни участвуют его  жена Линда, а также гитарист и вокалист Денни Лейн.

Im Musikleben der britischen Inseln gibt es viele Rekorde. Einer von ihnen ist jener Rekord der durch die Popularität der Platte der Liverpooler „Beatles" bestimmt wird. So wurde "She Loves You“ in England in einer Auflage von anderthalb Millionen Exemplare verkauft. Heute wird diese Zahl von Paul McCartney und seine Gruppe WINGS bereits überboten. Die neue Single mit dem Titel "Mull Of Kintyre" hat die Zweimillionengrenze vor einigen Tage bereits überschritten. Die WINGS sind die "Beatles" der 70er Jahre, schrieb am Anfang dieses Jahres die britische musikalische Wochenschrift " Melody Maker“. Jetzt ist allen klar, dass ein großer Teil der besten Songs der "Beatles" das Ergebnis des Schaffens von Paul McCartney war. McCartney hat die WINGS in August 1971, ein Jahr nach der offiziellen Auflösung der „Beatles" gegründet. Das Können und die Popularität der neuen Band wuchs von Song zu Song und Ende 1974 waren die WINGS mit ihrem dritten Albums „?", wurde die Gruppe eine führende Band Großbritanniens. Die Bekanntheit wurde auch weiter erhöht durch die nachfolgenden Alben der WINGS "Venus And Mars", „Wings At The Speed Of Sound“, „London Town“ …

Zur Zeit spielen in der Band WINGS außer Paul McCartney noch seine Frau Linda, sowie der Gitarrist und Sanger Denni Laine.
